Training and working as a Certified KonMari Consultant has changed the way I live my life. I have an increased appreciation for the things I’ve chosen to keep. I spend more time doing what I love and making memories with those who are important to me. I created my business the Authentic Home in late 2019 to support clients in creating balance in their own lives between self, home and things.
What is the KonMari Method™?
The KonMari method encourages tidying by category, tackling clothing, books, papers, komono, and finishing with sentimental items. Komono refers to miscellaneous items such as linens, kitchen items, hobby supplies, etc. The method places emphasis on keeping only those items you cherish and that spark joy. This philosophy allows you to clear away all that is not true to your authentic self.
Kelly Jessee, Owner and Home Organizer
I grew up in Reno, Nevada and earned a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Nevada, Reno. I have worked in retail for both Macy’s and Target where I worked as a Buyer and Store Executive. My enjoyment of merchandising and product propelled me to love working in my home and arranging my items in a soothing, simplistic and artful way.
In 2019, I discovered the book by Marie Kondo entitled “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up.” I was inspired by its message of simplicity and living a life filled with gratitude. After applying the method to my home, I realized that tidying allowed me the opportunity to create space to live a life that I love. Inspired by my own personal transformation, I took the opportunity to begin training in the KonMari Method™.
